Sounds like a very sad tale. I can assure you though, that clippers DO have comb attachments to allow for different length cuts. I would suggest you look around for another clipper there are lots about! Be warned that if you take them to the clipper with matting and tangles - it will all be shaven off so you really should perservere with the brushing despite Willow's protests.
A good clip takes HOURS so you will just have to bite the bullet and leave them behind - I insist my clients do this.
