groomer recommendations?

Can anyone recommend an experienced Westie groomer to me? I am in Ipswich, but willing to travel half an hour or so if I can find someone great. Since our previous groomer had a career change about a year ago, we have had one disaster after another with groomers that have NO IDEA how a Westie is supposed to look. He went to a grooming salon yesterday, and came back resembling a Westie in colour only - AND THEY PUT A BOW IN HIS HAIR. I am so upset. Any suggestions gratefully appreciated. Debra

Westie Grooming

Hi there Yes the Westie groom is a hard one and not all groomers know how to do this for whatever reason - I think they just learn how to use the clippers and go to town on all dogs with clippers.....the groomer I go to is called AUNTY MARG (yes that's her business name) and she charges $45 each time my boy goes - he never comes home with a bow in his hair and she seems to know how to do the westie cut.......she also hand strips if you are looking to keep your boys coat nice and wiry. She is at Keperra which would probably take more than 30mins to get to but I do recommend calling her first as I had to beg and plead to get my first appointment as she is very busy. I now book 6 months in advance to ensure I have an appointment as our boy goes every month to her. Her number is 0403 076 274

Maggie The Philanthrapooch Maggie requests Teagin at 4 Paw on McGregor Terrace in Bardon 73b Macgregor Tce 4065 (07) 3369 5175 Mobile Service 0402 856 00 Teagin is wonderful - has built her business from grooming in the back of a pet food shop into doggie day spa - there's doggie day care, trips to the beach, playmates to hang out with while waiting for a haircut and lots of love. She always tells us Maggie behaves herself, but we don't believe her. Despite that, Maggie comes out looking gorgeous - and although I so know what you mean about the Bow (Westie's are Not Bow Dogs), we enjoy the laugh for the 30 s the bow stays in - see Pooscapades 20071123 (Poolitical Pooch) and 20071117 (Winners and Grinners)

Sure do and you won't have to drive very far! She lives in Ellen Grove, Waterford Road. Maxine Drew is a groomer and can either strip or clip.. however you might only get her once as she's off to Tasmania to move there for good! If you already have your westie clipped then she'll probably tell you that's the way to go. Once clipped very hard to strip. In the meantime give her a call and she'll make your westie look super!!
